Microsoft Security Essentials or MSE is an antivirus product that provides PC protection against various types of malicious software such as viruses, spyware, rootkits and Trojan horses. Built by the virus definitions and scan virus similar to other Microsoft antivirus product, MSE provides real-time protection, continue to monitor activity on the computer and scan new files when downloaded or created on and off automatically detected threats.
MSE is built for individuals and small businesses that are free, but not included in the package of Windows operating system so it must be downloaded separately, based on the same technology that Microsoft uses to protect giant businesses (other security products such as Microsoft Forefront, Software Tracking, and Windows Defender).
MSE runs quietly in the background. Users will only be notified when there are specific actions that must be done. When away or busy, Microsoft Security Essentials can take the default action on the setting and can open the program later to review and cancel such measures if they wish.
MSE is efficient and compact. Scanning and updates are scheduled to run when the PC is not used and the software to work in a way that is still sharp when using it. All this makes Microsoft Security Essentials friendly for all types of computers, both older PCs, new PCs, laptops, and netbooks too small.
Microsoft Security Essentials Features:
Real-time protection means addressing potential threats before they become a problem. Warning alerted when there are spyware, viruses, or other malicious software tries to run or install on PC. Suspicious files and programs prevented from opening.
The system scan
Microsoft Security Essentials offers complete system scanning capabilities with a choice of scheduled and on demand scanning to provide additional confidence level. Scheduled scanning is enabled by default and is configured to run every week while the system may not function or may be disabled according to taste. There are three scanning options: Quick Scan, Full scan, Custom scan.

Windows Firewall integration
Having an active firewall is part of securing your PC. During setup, Microsoft Security Essentials scans the PC to determine if a firewall is active on the PC. If no firewall protection, users will be given the option to turn on Windows Firewall.
Dynamic signature service
